As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll serve as a trusted technical resource and project leader‑guiding investigations, shaping design recommendations, and delivering high‑quality consulting services across a wide range of project types. What You’ll Lead & Deliver
  • Lead and oversee field investigations, ensuring technical accuracy and high‑quality data collection.
  • Perform and guide complex engineering analyses and calculations, applying advanced technical judgment.
  • Develop expert recommendations, plans, and specifications that inform design and construction decisions.
  • Conduct and review construction observation and inspections, ensuring compliance with design intent.
  • Prepare, review, and refine technical reports, serving as a key voice for clients and project teams.

This position offers a flexible, hybrid work environment and can be based out of our Minneapolis or St. Paul offices.

Essential

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead safety efforts for the team and ensure the team follows safety rules and guidelines. Create and model a safe work environment and promote pre‑task planning for all projects.
  • Continuously monitor and improve quality on projects, promoting quality standards and practices.
  • Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
  • Understand project‑related risk and know how to protect the company. Familiarize yourself with company risk policies.
  • Provide technical direction required for production and completion of both routine and complex projects.
  • Conceptualize the initial design and/or investigative approach for major phases of large projects or have overall responsibility for the engineering work on projects of moderate scope.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate engineering work involving conventional practices that may include complex features such as conflicting design requirements.
  • Review projects requiring complex and innovative investigation techniques, supervise analysis, and formulate recommendations in written reports to clients; provide technical review of reports.
  • Lead technical training and make informed decisions based upon state‑of‑the‑art technology issues.
  • Provide leadership of marketing, sales, and business development.
  • Supervise less experienced engineers or technical support personnel on projects.
  • Serve as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, or Geo Engineering.
  • Minimum 8‑11 years’ experience.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status required.
Preferred Certification
  • Authorized Project Reviewer status preferred.

Minimum $114,600 – Maximum $177,700. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
