What you will do
As a Controls Project Manager for our HVAC division, you will, under general direction, act as the on-site project leader to plan, execute, and complete control systems projects with assigned customers.
How you will do it- Complete typical installation hardware design and software programming using established standards.
- Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors.
- Provide accurate project as‑built and commissioning documentation.
- Evaluate contractual scope and impact of client‑issued bulletins, field directives or scheduling changes.
- Communicate technical and business related issues with clients and pursue additional work through change orders.
- Lead and complete loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers.
- Coordinate job-site panel and field device physical locations in accordance with Johnson Controls literature.
- Communicate project status to management and provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.
- Develop project plans and coordinate resources to ensure accurate and cost-effective installation.
- Perform site-specific training for owner/operator and provide documentation and manuals.
- Send warranty letter upon project completion and ensure warranty execution.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and technical assistance to technicians, installers, designers and subcontractors.
- Ensure tasks are done accurately, on-time, billed, within budget and scope.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Attend job progress meetings as required.
- Ensure all staff and subcontractors adhere to safety standards.
- Select, order, and schedule delivery of materials, including vendor pricing and availability.
- Handle costs, billings, and collections; complete project billings promptly.
- Maintain profitability and positive cash flow.
- Manage subcontractor payment and billing processes.
- Minimum of a technical associate’s degree with four years of field experience or eight years of equivalent experience in the HVAC/Building Automation industry.
- Relevant technical hands‑on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC/Building Automation control systems.
- HVAC controls knowledge, customer communication skills, organization, and ability to lead projects.
- Proven verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical material to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently.
- Computer proficiency in Windows, Excel, and other relevant tools.
- Knowledge of control theory and HVAC/Building Automation systems.
- Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent with six years field experience in the HVAC industry.
- Experience preparing reports for upper management regarding project status.
- High regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
$100,100 – $148,000 (salary determined by experience, education, and market data). Competitive bonus plan based on individual, group, and corporate performance. Includes a competitive benefits package.
