Job Description
Seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with extensive heavy/highway civil construction experience for a direct hire opportunity with our client, a leading national civil construction company.
This position offers full benefits including PTO, Medical, Dental, and 401k.
Salary is between $150,000 and $210,000 per year (based on experience).
In this role, you will perform tasks requiring broad and/or deep knowledge in the field of heavy/highway civil construction and structural engineering, including structural analysis, design, and preparation of construction drawings.
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design, including reinforced and pre‑stressed concrete design, steel design, timber design, deep foundations, gravity‑based foundations, earth retaining structures, crane pick plan/rigging, and bridge deck.
- Implement design and ensure conformance with all applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Prepare and review calculations for analysis and prepare engineering reports, memoranda, and design submittals.
- Prepare working/draft construction drawings for AutoCAD drafter.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or similar from an accredited institution.
- 10 or more years of relevant experience, with bridge experience required.
- Master’s degree focused on structural engineering is preferred.
- PE license (NY or NJ) required, NY preferred.
- Proficient in using structural finite element analysis software tools such as MIDAS or RISA.
- Proficient working knowledge of Excel and Mathcad.
- Proficient working knowledge, understanding, and application of critical industry-accepted codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Specification and Construction Manual, NDS, AREMA, AASHTO, and AWS).
- Maintain membership in industry organizations (AISC, AWI, RCSC) and continued professional development for PE License.
- Ability to organize and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to be successful in a fast‑paced environment with minimal direction.
- Experience working on projects in the NYC/Metropolitan area preferred.
