As a Lead Atomic Physicist in Honeywell Aerospace’s Advanced Sensing Technology group, you will use your technical and managerial skills to support several projects in a fast‑paced R&D environment. You will have the opportunity to drive research and development of technologies such as atomic clocks, atomic RF sensors, and photonics, and will have input into a variety of strategically important, business‑critical tasks in the growing field of quantum and optical sensing.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team of scientists and engineers to develop new atomic sensor technology concepts and demonstrate them in practical devices.
  • Engage with customers and partners to define their needs and requirements, then apply your skills to find creative solutions through rigorous analysis, engineering, and experimentation.
  • Effectively communicate your ideas and results to research sponsors, scientific peers, and business leadership through presentations, publications, and proposals.
  • Use your expertise to spur the growth of our technology portfolio in new directions, shaping the future of sensing technology.

Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE
  • >10 years of R&D experience in AMO physics, especially in quantum sensing technologies including atomic sensors, optical sensors, or photonics
  • Extensive experience in proposing and winning DOD‑funded programs
  • Experience in technical leadership and program management
  • Due to contractual agreements, all applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

  • Ph.D. in physics or applied physics
  • Experience working with internal and external customers
  • Track record of solving difficult, complex problems through innovation, analysis, engineering, and experimentation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills reflected in a record of published results and public presentations.
