Volunteer: Library Tech Tutors

Hennepin County Library is looking for volunteers to assist library patrons (primarily adults and seniors) with their computer and technology questions during Tech Help Tutor programs at multiple library locations. The service helps patrons improve basic computer, smart device, and job search skills through one‑to‑one assistance.

• Assist patrons with logging in and navigating a computer or smart device (smartphone, tablet, e‑reader).
• Help patrons securely navigate the internet (connecting to Wi‑Fi, signing up for online accounts, logging into email or social media accounts, and changing passwords).
• Assist patrons with common software such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Guide patrons in using library resources and technology (e‑books, printers, scanners).
• Support patrons with job search assistance—including resume preparation, job searching, and application support.

• Ability to communicate with a wide range of people and explain technology and job‑related topics in an accessible way.

• Basic understanding of technology and willingness to learn (smart device navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, etc.).
• Ability to speak another language in addition to English.

Training is provided by the Program Coordinator and supervision is offered by a designated Hennepin County Library staff member. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
