Planning and Sourcing Specialist

Well-known precision manufacturing organization that produces high-tolerance machined components isseeking a Planning & Sourcing Specialist to own production scheduling and supplier coordination across internal work centers and external machining/service partners. This role sits at the intersection of operations and supply chain, ensuring the right materials are available at the right time without excess inventory or production disruption.
This is an excellent opportunity for a manufacturing supply chain professional who enjoys balancing data, urgency, and supplier relationships while driving measurable improvements in cost, delivery, and quality.
- Develop and manage production schedules to support internal machining work centers
- Plan and source materials, components, and outsourced services from approved suppliers
- Utilize ERP supply/demand planning modules to align forecasts, inventory levels, and production requirements
- Monitor material availability and proactively resolve shortages to prevent production delays
- Evaluate supplier performance for quality, cost, and delivery metrics
- Lead supplier negotiations to achieve cost savings and favorable terms
- Partner cross-functionally with production, quality, engineering, and leadership teams
- Identify and implement process improvements within planning and sourcing workflows
- Support machining operations by understanding turning, milling, and grinding processes
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete material
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years of experience in production scheduling and procurement within a manufacturing environment
- Experience in precision machining or similar industrial production setting preferred
- Proficiency with ERP systems including supply/demand planning and material sourcing modules
- Demonstrated success improving delivery performance and achieving measurable cost savings
- Strong analytical skills with ability to make data-driven decisions
- Effective negotiation and supplier management capabilities
- Clear communication skills across production, vendors, and leadership
