A Day in the Life

The Peripheral Vascular Health Operating Unit develops and manufactures technologies used in the treatment of vascular disease. At the Plymouth Nathan Lane site, teams produce stents, catheters, and other medical devices that support patient care worldwide. The Operations Excellence (OpEx) function partners closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, operational performance, and sustainable process excellence across manufacturing operations.

This position is based onsite in Plymouth, Minnesota and works directly with manufacturing and support functions to identify opportunities, implement improvements, and improve operational outcomes.

As an Industrial Engineer II, you will support manufacturing operations through process analysis, continuous improvement initiatives, and data-driven decision making. This role focuses on improving productivity, capacity, quality, and operational performance by applying industrial engineering principles and continuous improvement methodologies. You will collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and sustain measurable results.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Analyze manufacturing processes, workflows, and production systems to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, throughput, and resource utilization.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects focused on productivity, quality, capacity, and cost reduction objectives.
  • Conduct cycle time studies, work analysis, and process evaluations to establish performance baselines and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize production layouts, operating methods, and workflow sequences to support manufacturing objectives.
  • Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify trends, quantify improvement opportunities, and support decision making.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Quality teams to implement and sustain Lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Support inventory control, production record systems, and operational performance initiatives through data analysis and process improvement activities.
  • Assist with facility, equipment, and operational planning efforts that support manufacturing growth and efficiency objectives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, operations excellence, or continuous improvement experience OR Master's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related technical field.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing processes, workflows, or production systems using data-driven problem-solving methods.
  • Experience leading or supporting process improvement, operational excellence, or productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience applying Lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement methodologies in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing capacity modeling, production planning analysis, or resource utilization studies.
  • Experience conducting cycle time studies, work measurement, and work analysis evaluations.
  • Experience with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), digital dashboards, or tier management systems.
  • Experience presenting data, recommendations, and project outcomes to cross-functional stakeholders.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
