CNC MACHINIST (Milling) Programming, Setup, and Precision CNC Milling

POSITION SUMMARY

MANIFEST Technology is seeking a CNC Machinist (Milling) for a hands-on programming, setup, and machining role in Brooklyn Park, MN. This position is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC milling programs and machine setups used to manufacture complex precision components. The ideal candidate can take a print from concept to execution—programming the job, building the setup, proving out the process on the shop floor, and partnering with engineering and production to improve quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.

Minneapolis; 5 days/week, 8 hours/day, with potential option for four 10-hour days

Pay Range: $30–$42/hour, based on skills and experience

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain CNC milling programs for complex parts and precision components.
  • Set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling machines, including vertical and horizontal equipment.
  • Take engineering prints from programming through setup and shop-floor execution, ensuring parts meet quality and production requirements.
  • Create and maintain setup sheets, production documentation, tooling information, and program records.
  • Optimize tool paths, feeds, speeds, cutting parameters, and setup strategies to improve cycle time, quality, and overall machining efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve manufacturability concerns, process issues, and quality problems.
  • Maintain print and program control by updating current programs and removing obsolete prints, programs, and related documentation.
  • Perform tooling checks, order tooling as needed, and support the development of tooling prints and fixtures.
  • Mentor machinists and programmers on programming techniques, setup best practices, troubleshooting methods, and machining standards.
  • Support departmental and company objectives while maintaining safe work practices, strong communication, efficient production, and a high-quality, low-reject environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required and preferred experience includes:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant machining experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a lead, senior machinist, or subject matter expert role preferred.
  • Strong CNC milling background with the ability to program, set up, prove out, and run jobs from engineering prints.
  • Required GibbsCAM milling experience; experience with ESPRIT, Part Maker, Solid Works, or similar CAD/CAM tools is beneficial.
  • Experience programming 3- to 5-axis CNC milling machines, including vertical and horizontal mills.
  • Expertise with CNC programming languages, including G-code, M-code, macros, and variables.
  • Experience with DMG Mori and Kitamura equipment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixturing, and materials such as stainless steel, stainless alloys, titanium, PEEK, and precious metals.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and complex part features.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, mentoring, and training skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards and best practices.
