Mers around the world. This position is part of the Technical Aide Program, designed for individuals seeking to transition from private, public, government, or military experience to a 3M career. A Technical Aide works on‑site, temporarily, and is limited to 899 hours per service credit year. The program allows part‑time work throughout the calendar year and is ideal for students or recent graduates looking for relevant experience that complements their education.
you’ll make in this role
- Collaborate with senior researchers on an assigned product/technology development project
- Document detailed experimental records in 3M electronic laboratory notebooks
- Analyze experimental results and offer explanations for observations to the project team
- Collaborate with other R&D functions as needed for projects, including researchers from other groups, analytical chemists, process engineers, and others
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed at least one semester of a post‑high school degree program from an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Completed at least one laboratory course or internship
- Good organizational skills
- Demonstrated aptitude for hands‑on experimentation
- Experience with the Microsoft suite of computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and database tools, development and manipulation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

On‑site at the 3M Center, Maplewood, MN.
