Description:
The Design Consultant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Minnetonka, MN. In this role, the consultant meets with customers in the showroom to understand their project goals and guides them in selecting tile, stone, and related materials for kitchens, bathrooms, and other interior spaces. Daily tasks include creating design concepts, presenting product options, preparing quotes, and supporting customers from initial consultation through final material selection.
The consultant collaborates with sales and fabrication teams to ensure accurate orders and seamless project execution. This role also involves maintaining an organized, visually appealing showroom and staying current on design trends and product offerings.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to listen, ask clarifying questions, and provide clear, helpful guidance.
- Sales skills, including comfort with consultative selling, upselling when appropriate, and closing transactions in a retail or showroom environment.
- Interior design skills, with experience planning layouts, coordinating colors and finishes, and visualizing spaces using tile and stone.
- Knowledge of furniture and furnishings to help customers integrate tile and stone selections with broader interior design elements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail for managing quotes, orders, and multiple customer projects simultaneously.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with design or quoting software are beneficial.
- Prior experience in tile, stone, kitchen/bath design, or related home improvement fields is preferred but not required.
Average Compensation: 50K - 85K expected 1st year earnings in a draw plus commission payment structure.
