Position Summary
The Field Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring that all equipment operates at peak performance and is fully prepared to perform at various job sites. This role focuses on inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment while maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
This position will primarily support jobsites in the Eastern United States. Candidates will be considered nationwide, while candidates located in the region will be given preference. This position reports to the Fleet Services Manager.

- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation in the field.
- Apply innovative techniques and use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Test equipment following repairs to confirm functionality and compliance with operational standards.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with other field staff and supervisors to ensure timely completion of repairs.
- Strictly follow all safety procedures and ensure safety gear is worn at all times.
- Travel to job sites as required, with per diem and travel expenses covered by the company.
- Associate degree or equivalent certification in Heavy Equipment Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with heavy equipment.
- Valid CDL-A license with Tanker endorsement (required).
- Proficiency with electronic diagnostic equipment and software.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, engine diagnostics, and mechanical repairs.
- Excellent problem-solving and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
- Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, including job sites with varying terrain and weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in non‑air‑conditioned shops and perform tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Regular use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required.
- Position involves physical labor, including lifting, bending, and working in tight or elevated spaces.
- Pay and benefits are as stated in the union contract.
Position may be subject to pre‑employment screening, which may include background check and drug testing.
