The Social Studies Teacher works as part of a collaborative academic and treatment team to support student safety, learning, and growth. You’ll lead a classroom of residential students, develop engaging lesson plans, assess progress, and create an environment where students feel supported and capable of success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction, grading, and assessment aligned with curriculum standards
  • Develop lesson plans, assignments, tests, and progress reports
  • Implement and support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Monitor and implement classroom behavioral interventions as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely academic documentation
  • Supervise and collaborate with teaching assistants
  • Participate in curriculum development, faculty meetings, and professional development
  • Support school activities, including field trips
  • Communicate effectively within the academic and treatment teams
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold MPA policies and procedures
  • Represent Mount Prospect Academy professionally to families, communities, and partner agencies
Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • NH DOE certification / teaching license
    (K‑8 or high school content area)
  • 2+ years of teaching experience
    in general and/or special education (middle or high school preferred)
Preferred:
  • Degree or coursework in Social Studies or related field
