NHEC is seeking an Interconnection Specialist to serve as the primary point of contact for members and developers seeking to interconnect Distributed Energy Resources (DERs)—including solar, wind, hydro, and battery systems—to our distribution grid. In this highly collaborative role, you’ll guide applicants through the interconnection lifecycle, ensure regulatory and procedural compliance, and help support New Hampshire’s rapidly growing clean‑energy landscape. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Operations, Construction Services, Member Solutions, Finance, and Power Resources to move applications efficiently from initial request through permission to operate.
Key Responsibilities- Build strong relationships with members, developers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure an excellent interconnection experience.
- Serve as the primary liaison throughout the interconnection lifecycle, helping applicants navigate regulatory and NHEC requirements.
- Process DER interconnection applications using NISC Connect and iVue, including technical review and payment processing.
- Coordinate interconnection documentation—applications, engineering drawings, study agreements, contracts, completion certificates, and permission to operate.
- Collaborate with Finance and Engineering on deposits, solar studies, system assessments, and large‑scale project requirements.
- Maintain accurate application status, system entries, and applicant communication.
- Support Renewable Energy Certificate processes and serve as NHEC’s Independent Monitor for gross‑output reporting.
- Hold and maintain NHEC’s corporate electrical license and support inspections as needed.
- Ensure project and program compliance with NHEC procedures and regulatory standards.
- Deliver presentations to member groups and professional organizations as needed.
- Assist with occasional generator inspections and support power‑restoration efforts during outages.
Education and Experience
- Current New Hampshire Journeyman Electrician license required;
High school diploma or GED. - 5 years of experience as an Electrician.
- Strong knowledge of utility distribution grid interconnections, net metering, and renewable energy systems (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal).
- Experience in customer service, technical marketing, sales, project management, or energy efficiency programs.
- Understanding of regulatory issues affecting DER interconnection and metering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and strong communication skills.

The targeted salary range for this position is $97,581 -$110,800withanticipated pay for new hires between the entry and midpoint of the range
and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non‑discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of NHEC’s total compensation package for employees.
