Overview

If you have experience as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner or within related therapeutic roles, your expertise can create lasting change for young people transitioning out of residential care. Step Forward is a specialist foster partnership offering professional care from the comfort of your own home.

Responsibilities
  • Provide full‑time care and a dedicated bedroom for a child in your care.
  • Deliver emotional and behavioural support to help the child heal, grow and thrive.
  • Work as part of a fully‑supported team, including social work and out‑of‑hours support.
  • Participate in bespoke training in trauma‑informed and therapeutic care.
  • Adhere to the Mockingbird Fostering Model and The Fostering Network.
What You’ll Receive
  • From £840 per week (when a child is placed)
  • Extra allowances for birthdays, holidays and celebrations
  • 100% Council Tax exemption (eligibility criteria applies)
  • Up to 28 nights of paid respite per year

Who We’re Looking For
  • Based in Plymouth or surrounding areas
  • Ready to offer full‑time care and a dedicated bedroom
  • Skilled in supporting children with emotional or behavioural needs
  • Emotionally resilient and reflective
  • Willing to become self‑employed
  • Ideally with no children under 12 at home (although case‑by‑case assessments will be made)
