To perform complex secretarial, office administration, and public relations assignments; perform related work.
This is a half-time (0.5 FTE) position with the option to be based at either the Pocatello or Meridian campus of Idaho State University.
This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.
Nature and ScopeThese positions perform high level secretarial duties.
Incumbents have a major role in coordinating administrative activities which requires frequent contact with executives, thepublic, other agencies and government officials. This requires the incumbent toutilize effective public relations and liaison skills.
Incumbents may attend meetings for the administrator to relay and collect information. Incumbents function with considerable independence and exercise discretion in applying policies and procedures.
The work requires extensive knowledge of department programs and objectives.
They are responsible for the research, compilation,and organization of materials for administrators' use in problem resolution.
These positions are often responsible for ensuring that assignments given toother staff by the administrator are completed and timelines are met.
Incumbents may supervise staff.
These positions independently research,analyze, and compile information to prepare reports, handle complaints, or resolve problems; compose correspondence for supervisor on own initiative or from general instructions; format/type a variety of executive, sensitive,confidential, official and/or legal letters and documents.
Minimum QualificationsGood knowledge of:
- Office support functions including word processing, filing, composing a variety of business documents and reception.
- Researching, compiling,and summarizing data for reports.
Experience:
- Interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies or services.
- Independently solving problems/performing liaison activities in a work setting.
- Coordinating activities requiring complex arrangements.
Some positions at ISU may require one or more of the following:
- Some knowledge of:
- Financial recordkeeping.
- Supervisory practices.
Good knowledge of:
- Legal terminology.
- Investigative procedures.
Experience:
- Public Relations.
- Using dictation/transcription equipment & taking minutes.
Additional Information
ISU minimum for this classification is $19.01/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
