Rate of pay:
Teacher Assist. Classified Level 3 at $13.68 per hour or Teacher Asst. II Classified Level 5 at $16.50 per hour, depending on educational background.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Teaching Assistant assists the teacher with planning and implementing classroom activities, parent activities and with preparation of the physical environment; works with parents and volunteers; participates in child assessment and home education home visits and parent-teacher conferences; takes on the role of teacher in the absence of the teacher.

MINIMUM

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Teacher Assistant I - GED or High School diploma with committment to obtain a CDA or higher within first two years of hire.

Teacher Assistant II - CDA, Intermediate Technical Certificate or AA in early childhood.

1. Must demonstrate a competence in reading, writing, speaking and listening.

2. Basic computer skills (e-mail, data entry into HS Database)

* Experience working with diverse families in low-income communities

* Experience working with children with disabilities and with challenging behaviors

HEALTH

QUALIFICATIONS:

An initial physical exam is required, unless employee can provide documentation of exam completed within prior 12 months.

CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment
