Job Description

The Clinical Assistant Professor is a full-time, 9-month faculty appointment in the Undergraduate Nursing Program with primary responsibility for high-quality clinical, laboratory, simulation, and didactic instruction. The role emphasizes excellence in teaching, student mentorship, curriculum implementation, and professional role modeling, while contributing to service, leadership, and quality improvement initiatives within the School of Nursing.

This position is based on the Pocatello campus for in-person instruction, with expectations for distance and online teaching as needed. Faculty may be required to travel to clinical sites for student supervision; mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with institutional policy.

This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Instruction

* Provide undergraduate nursing instruction across classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings.

* Apply evidence-based practice and clinical judgment student-centered teaching strategies.

* Evaluate student performance in a timely and consistent manner and collaborate with faculty to ensure standardized learning experiences across campuses.

Curriculum and Course Development

* Participate in course design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation.

* Ensure alignment with American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) standards, licensure expectations, and program outcomes.

* Use assessment data and student feedback to support continuous quality improvement.

Supervision and Mentorship

* Provide oversight and guidance to clinical instructors, adjunct faculty, and teaching assistants as assigned.

* Collaborate with clinical partners and preceptors to support high-quality clinical education.

Service and Leadership

* Engage in faculty meetings, student advising, committee work, and shared governance

* Contribute to program quality improvement, student success initiatives, and service at the School, College, University, and community levels.

* Teaching workload may be adjusted to support approved service, leadership, or scholarly activities.

Minimum Qualifications

* Earned Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher (e.g., DNP, PhD) from an accredited institution

* Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States; eligible for licensure in Idaho by start date

* Minimum of two years of professional nursing practice in a patient care setting

* Demonstrated commitment to professional nursing values, ethical practice, and student-centered education

Preferred Qualifications

* Prior teaching experience in academic or clinical education settings.

* Experience in leadership, mentorship, or clinical education coordination.

* Familiarity with continuous quality improvement processes in healthcare or academic programs.

* Experience working with students from a wide range of backgrounds or in rural and resource-limited settings.

Additional Information
