Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health agencies. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho.
The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health.
The Prevention Educator will expand and enhance the capacity of existing public health programs and services by supporting activities related to Living Works Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Living Works safeTALK, training and Sources of Strength (SOS) mental health promotion program.
Duties include:
conducting marketing and outreach for ASIST, safeTALK, and Sources of Strength (SOS); preparing class materials for ASIST, safeTALK, and Sources of Strength; conducting data analysis and impact reporting; distributing mental health resource information; participating in community service activities; developing partnerships within the community; conducting needs assessments.
