Assistant Professor - Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Boise State University invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position with an anticipated start in Fall 2027. Candidates should be able to collaborate with faculty within the department and with other departments, centers and industry partners, and should be able to lead an externally funded research program. The department encourages interdisciplinary research across its PhD programs in Engineering, Computing, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering.

Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in robotics, mechatronics, control, or advanced manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain an externally funded research program and lead interdisciplinary research initiatives.
  • Engage in evidence‑based teaching, mentoring students, and participating in department, college, and university committees.
  • Foster a collaborative learning environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and students.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Evidence of a record of research and publications.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competency to instruct courses in System Modeling & Control and Design.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research collaborations.

Salary and Benefits

Salary ranges from $90,000 to $95,000 (9‑month contract). The university provides a best‑in‑class benefits package, including a 10.76% contribution to the ORP retirement fund.
