Position:
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a Waste and Remediation Manager
- Analyst 4 - for the Pocatello Regional Office.
Salary Range: $37.00 - $40.00
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, and supervise regional waste and remediation staff to achieve performance objectives.
- Assure that the group effectively represents DEQ’s mission and vision.
- Manage regional waste and remediation programs.
- Coordinate with the program office to identify priority initiatives, negotiate budgets, negotiate performance measures, and direct resources accordingly to achieve programmatic goals.
- Direct and supervise activities to ensure compliance with applicable state environmental rules and laws, including complaint investigation, fulfillment of Public Records Requests, routine inspections, and other activities.
- Direct, review, and track compliance assurance and enforcement actions
- Assist stakeholders in understanding and complying with state and federal environmental rules through outreach efforts.
- Represent the region in the community at large.
- Regional Office Leadership:
Provide leadership to the Pocatello Regional Office (PRO) by active participation in supporting regional objectives/strategic plan, serving as the acting regional administrator when appropriate, and sharing information and resources as appropriate with the other PRO teams. - Manage information so upper management and staff may operate in an effective and proactive manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of aBachelor'sdegree in the physical or biological sciences, Political Science, Business or Public Administration, Engineering, or related natural resources management field OR Education and/or experience equivalent to a typical four (4) year Bachelor'sdegree. For example:
Successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours of study, including twenty-four (24) semester hours in a subject required for the specific discipline, is equivalent to two (2) years of undergraduate education; and/or experience performing routine duties such as planning, research, regulatory development and/or implementation of components of environmental programs or media for at least two (2) years can substitute for one (1) year of college. - At least six (6) years of professional experience providing management, technical assistance, resource allocation, and policy interpretation to staff, special interestgroupsand the public.
- Possession of aMaster'sdegree in any of the above fields AND at least four (4) years of professional experience providing technical assistance,allocating resources,managing and/or developing programs; and interpreting policy to staff, special interestgroupsand the public.
