Description:
Shift: 3x12 hour nights. This unit accepts first-time travelers. It has a total of 24 beds. Typical staffing ratios are 1:3 or 1:4. The facility is a comprehensive stroke center. It is also a Level II Trauma and Chest Pain Accredited facility. It can provide complex care to PCI and open-heart surgery patients. There may be a requirement to float to different units.
Weekend coverage is required, with a total of 6 shifts per contract. Pre-approved time off is limited to two. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. The daily census averages around 23 patients. The unit has interdisciplinary support, including IV teams and respiratory services. Common patient diagnoses include heart failure, stroke, and sepsis. Special procedures conducted include emergent cardioversion and central line placement.
Equipment used may include BIPAP and CPAP. Compliance rules include completing core items and labs within a specified timeframe after contract signing. Modules are non-billable and must be completed onsite during orientation.
