Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.

• Active State or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols

• Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00
• Patient population includes sepsis, CIWA, confusion, AMS, COPD, post-op care, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, isolation, and SI with medical indications
• Required to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
• Deliver nursing care across patient age groups from infants to geriatrics using the nursing process
• Document patient care thoroughly in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards
• Maintain professional competencies and support development of team members
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress clinical environment
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
• Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
