Job Summary

Ensure meat is wrapped, weighed, and priced properly. Operate the wrapping machine and provide customer service while maintaining product quality and selection. Keep the department and equipment clean, and consistently deliver world‑class service to internal and external customers. Shifts are 6‑8 hours, typically from 9 am to 10 pm.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers, maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere.
  • Provide fast, friendly, courteous customer service and assist with suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
  • Weigh, tray, grind, wrap, and price poultry and meat.
  • Prevent sale of spoiled or outdated products by following laws and company policy on weighing, labeling, code dating, and processing re‑worked items.
  • Ensure proper merchandising, signing, inventory levels, and eye‑appeal of the department.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area, equipment, cutting room, and retail cases in accordance with policy and legal regulations.
  • Stock and rotate product; consolidate racks by moving trays between racks.
  • Clean mirrors, glass, and other surfaces.
  • Assist Meat Cutters and the Department Manager with tasks as appropriate.
  • Participate in a Meat Cutter training program to learn basic meat‑cutting skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
  • Work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform friendly, courteous, and tactful interactions while maintaining composure with customers and coworkers.
  • Conduct visual inspections, read production guides and product labels.
  • Use cleaning chemicals safely following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Handle food products according to state, county laws, and Win Co standards.
  • Read and follow written work assignments and instructions.
  • Communicate effectively, including hearing and speaking, while on the sales floor.
  • Reach, lift, and maneuver objects up to approximately 25 lb. frequently and 30‑60 lb. occasionally.
  • Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Perform repetitious arm movements required for wrapping, slicing, and processing products.
  • Stand for long periods, walk, move rapidly, bend, twist, and turn frequently.
  • Operate related equipment with manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
  • Work for extended periods in a refrigerated area (32–50 °F).
  • Work with hands exposed to moisture while handling and stocking poultry and meat.
  • Learn product variability, perishability, safety, and sanitation procedures, and department policies.
  • Perform basic math (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication) and compute weights and measures.
  • Wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
  • Perform primary duties with efficiency and accuracy.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Food Handlers Certification as required by state laws.
Machines And Equipment Operated
  • Scales, wrapping machines, slicers, cubers, pallet jacks, bailer, and hand trucks.
