Fall Machine Learning Intern at Pinterest

Job Overview

As a Machine Learning Intern in the Monetization organization, you will work on machine learning and AI challenges related to ads, partnering with engineering teams and contributing to product and feature development at scale.

• Contribute to cutting‑edge research in machine learning and AI to personalize Pinterest.
• Collect, analyze, synthesize data findings, and build intelligent data‑driven models.
• Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code.
• Use machine learning, natural language processing, and graph analysis to solve modeling and ranking problems across ads.
• Scope and independently solve moderately complex problems.
• Take proactive ownership of task completion and quality, working with minimal guidance from mentors, managers, and peers.

• Lower Funnel Monetization team focus.
• Experience in recommendation systems.
• Working toward a Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, ML, Statistics, Information Sciences, or a related field.
• Experience in ranking, recommendation systems, NLP, content recommendations, embedding, information retrieval, etc.
• Mastery of at least one systems language (Java, C++, Python) or one ML framework (Tensor Flow, PyTorch, MLFlow).
• Practical knowledge of large‑scale recommender systems or modern ad ranking, retrieval, targeting, marketplace systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, self‑motivated, able to solve open‑ended problems.

• Publications at top ML conferences.
• Passion for applied ML and Pinterest product.

This role may require you to be located near an office for in‑person collaboration, and therefore may need to be located a commutable distance from one of our Pinterest offices.

Salary range: $10,000‑$11,000 monthly. Final salary depends on location, travel, experience, and specific skills.
