Senior Geophysicist - Seismic Interpretation

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Geophysicist with expertise in seismic interpretation to join their exploration team in Polokwane. This vital role involves analyzing seismic data to identify potential hydrocarbon reservoirs and guide exploration strategies within the Oil & Gas sector. You will work with sophisticated software and collaborate closely with geologists and reservoir engineers to assess prospectivity and de-risk exploration ventures.

• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify geological structures, strati graphic traps, and potential hydrocarbon accumulations.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Perform seismic attribute analysis and inversion techniques to enhance reservoir characterization.
• Estimate hydrocarbon volumes and assess uncertainties associated with exploration prospects.
• Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers to define exploration targets and drilling plans.
• Prepare detailed geophysical reports and present findings to management and technical teams.
• Contribute to the development of regional exploration strategies and prospect evaluations.

• Master's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in seismic interpretation within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency in industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, Hampson Russell).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and migration principles.
• Experience with various seismic attributes, AVO analysis, and inversion techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
