Detention Administrative Assistant
Lake County Detention Center is accepting applications for:
Administrative Assistant
Objective:
Under the general supervision of the Detention Administrator, performs a wide variety of administrative, clerical, financial, and customer service duties in support of the Detention Center. Responsibilities include maintaining inmate financial records, processing deposits and disbursements, preparing billing and reports, maintaining confidential records, coordinating purchasing and inventory, and providing administrative support to the Detention Administrator.
Duties:
Receive, receipt, and process inmate account deposits;
Maintain accurate inmate account balances and transaction records;
Process inmate commissary purchases and maintain expenditure records;
Prepare and issue account cash outs upon inmate release;
Reconcile inmate financial records and assist with balancing;
Coordinate with the County Finance Office regarding deposits, reconciliations, and financial reporting;
Prepare invoices for boarding inmates from other agencies;
Monitor inventory levels for office, detention, medical, janitorial, and inmate supplies;
Order supplies in accordance with County purchasing policies;
Assist with administration of commissary, inmate telephone, vending, and other contracted services;
Answer telephones and assist the public, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, courts, and other governmental entities in a courteous and professional manner;
Prepare correspondence, reports, forms, memoranda, spreadsheets, and other documents;
Maintain confidential inmate, financial, and departmental records;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
3 years of experience in a fast-paced, self-motivated office environment preferred;
Experience handling cash and maintaining financial records;
Experience with accounts receivable, bookkeeping, payroll, or governmental accounting;
Experience working in a governmental, law enforcement, legal, corrections, or public service environment;
Experience using records management, accounting, or jail management software;
Knowledge of detention center operations or criminal justice processes. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Hours/Days:
This is a part-time position working approximately 25 hours per week. Days and hours are flexible and will be determined based on operational needs.
Wage: $17 – 18.00/hourly, depending on experience.
