Driver / Operator
Lake County Solid Waste is accepting applications for the Driver / Operator position.
QualificationsMust possess a valid Class B CDL, with an acceptable driving record and a minimum of 1 year of CDL driving experience in winter conditions. Class A CDL is preferred; if you have a Class B CDL you must obtain a Class A by the end of your probationary period. Must possess the ability to operate large trucks and heavy equipment safely and skillfully;
be able to conduct minor repair and maintenance of trucks and equipment, work outdoors in extreme weather and temperatures, and work well with the public and coworkers; and must be knowledgeable of all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the operation of commercial motor vehicles. Must be able to lift 80lbs. Roll‑off and pup trailer experience is preferred.
Drive transfer truck to container sites; set empty containers; consolidate loaded containers; retrieve loaded containers; deliver and unload containers; clean area around container site, as well as truck and trailer; perform minor maintenance on equipment; operate heavy equipment; move and compact waste; perform landfill duties, including working at the ticket shack; and perform other duties as assigned.
Hours / DaysFull‑time – varied schedule – requires weekends.
Wage$26.86 hourly. This is a union covered position.
