Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Assistant Professor
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position in the Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department. The position will begin in Fall 2026.
The PositionAs an Assistant Professor, the faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in the Electromechanical Engineering Technology curriculum, with primary expertise in electromechanical systems or fluids and thermal systems. The role requires excellence in teaching and advising, professional and scholarly achievements, and a commitment to service to the university. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent teaching, research projects, and written and oral communication skills, and work will incorporate a global perspective and a commitment to diversity in higher education.
Minimum Qualifications- Ph.D. in mechanical/electromechanical/electrical engineering or closely related field from an accredited university by August 1, 2026
- Ability to teach undergraduate courses in the Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and equity
- A commitment to the practical mission of the Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Additional professional experience and teaching experience
- Expertise in fluids and thermal systems with experience in computational fluid dynamics and engineering
- Experience in semiconductor workforce development will be given additional preference
- Ability to conduct applied research and develop industry contacts
- Commitment to the practical application of engineering principles
- Ability to demonstrate excellent teaching, and develop and support Electromechanical Engineering Technology laboratories
- Demonstrated ability to be responsive to the educational equity goals of the university and its increasing ethnic and international character
- Demonstration of ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and/or service, and of commitment to teaching and working in a multicultural environment
- A cover letter (limit to 2 pages) that describes the candidate’s teaching and research experience and interests that addresses the duties and qualifications articulated in this position description.
- A curriculum vitae with at least three individual contact references: names, titles, addresses, telephone numbers.
- Statement of teaching philosophy (up to two pages) specifically addressing the applied nature of Electromechanical Engineering Technology.
- Statement of research philosophy (up to two pages) and how it would be applied to enrich teaching within the curriculum.
- From the Cal Poly Pomona catalog, a list of courses prepared to teach with minimal preparation, courses that can be taught with some additional preparation, and new courses to develop.
- Unofficial transcripts showing the highest degree earned.
- The names, titles, addresses, and telephone numbers of at least three individuals who can serve as references.
- Be required to provide official transcripts for the highest degree before the on‑campus interview.
- Be required to provide three letters of reference dated within the last two years.
- Be expected to make a presentation of creative work and a teaching demonstration to faculty and interact with students.
