The Center for Academic Community Engagement (ACE) offers teaching assistant (TA) elective experiences to admitted and/or enrolled WesternU students across all colleges. As a TA, you will mentor local students from Pre‑K through undergraduate levels interested in health professions, support classroom and afternoon curriculum, and contribute to gross anatomy lab instruction.
Education & Experience- Any combination of training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- 1–2 years’ experience in a related field.
- Preference will be given to individuals possessing a bachelor’s degree.
- Previous academic or health‑care setting experience is preferred.
- Follow all ACE HCL policies and procedures, attend required HCL orientation and training, and participate in scheduled HCL content‑planning meetings.
- Support practical instruction and reinforce lessons delivered by faculty, including lab‑based activities such as anatomy dissection, diagnostic instrumentation, simulators, and therapeutic demonstration.
- Create a supportive learning environment through one‑on‑one or small‑group sessions and review of student assessment materials.
- Collaborate with HCL administration to address student academic, professional, or personal issues.
- Perform additional duties related to supporting HCL operations as needed.
- Part‑time – temporary role; weekly hours will not exceed 20.

CompensationMinimum: $17.00 hourly
Maximum: $17.50 hourly
The role requires frequent use of hands to operate a PC. Typical duties include sitting, reaching with hands and arms, standing, walking, stooping, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Reasonable accommodations may be available.
Work EnvironmentWork is performed in an office setting with a low to moderate noise level.
