About the Computer Science DepartmentThe Department is ABET‑accredited and supports tenured and part‑time faculty, providing learning‑by‑doing instruction in a variety of subdisciplines.
PositionThe temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to begin teaching on short notice. Fall term starts in late August and ends in mid‑December;
Spring term starts in mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Summer sessions may also be available.
We serve all subdisciplines of computer science including fundamentals of programming, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, data science, cybersecurity, networks, machine learning, AI, cloud computing, and game development. Applicants with specific interests in any subdiscipline are encouraged to apply.
ResponsibilitiesTeach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on the assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses.
Required Qualifications- A master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline relevant to the curriculum.
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background, determined by the hiring department. The appointment is one semester only. Monthly base salaries are prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Most new appointees are hired at Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range.
The anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications does not exceed $6,221 per month (as of July 2024).
