Location: Pomona
Cal Poly Pomona is seeking a temporary faculty member in the History Department to teach undergraduate courses in US, California, and World Civilizations. Positions will be filled as needed based on enrollment and funding, with the possibility of start dates as short as the beginning of a term. The role involves a full teaching assignment of one semester, with teaching formats including day, evening, and/or asynchronous online courses.
Office hours will be scheduled weekly per unit load.
- Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum.
- Serve weekly office hours in a manner consistent with the assigned teaching load.
- Prepare course materials, assignments, and assessments in alignment with departmental standards.
- Provide timely feedback to students and support their academic progress.
- Participate in required faculty meetings and professional development activities as directed by the department.
- A Master’s degree in History or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated academic achievement in teaching areas relevant to the anticipated course assignments.
- Ph.D. in History or a closely related discipline.
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Strong evidence of effective teaching, including student evaluations or teaching portfolio.
Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. Appointments are for one semester only and are prorated to the number of units worked. The following ranges apply:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
- Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 per month
- Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 per month
- Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 per month
