About the PositionPart‑time lecturer positions in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science at Don
B. Huntley College of Agriculture, Cal Poly Pomona. Positions are opened as needed based on enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to begin teaching on short notice. Fall term: late August to mid‑December;
Spring term: mid‑January to mid‑May;
Summer Sessions available.
Subjects taught will include:
- Nutrition and Health
- Nutrition Education and Counseling
- Metabolism
- Community Nutrition
- Food Service
- Food Chemistry and Analysis
- Sensory Evaluation
- Food Safety and Food Microbiology
- Food Engineering and Processing
- Food Packaging
- Food Product Development
Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on the assigned teaching unit load. Teaching may include in‑person day, evening, and/or weekend courses, hybrid and/or fully online courses.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Nutrition, Food Science or a related discipline relevant to the curriculum.
- Ph.D. in Nutrition, Public Health, Food Science or related discipline.
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching.
Initial appointment is one semester. Base salary is prorated to units worked and paid in six monthly payments per semester. Salary ranges based on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month. Cal Poly Pomona offers a competitive total compensation package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance.
