SUMMARY: Currently searching for four Part-Time Graduate Student Assistants to work in the Collaborative Research: CUE-T:
Expanding the undergraduate AI talent pipeline by democratizing access to instructional capabilities across institutions of higher education, under the supervision of Dr. Anas Salah Eddin.

As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands‑on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality, management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn‑by‑doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.

The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.

In this role you will:

• Work with Faculty Lab Facilitators to support a diverse cohort of 60–100 students through a virtual 9‑week Machine Learning Foundations course.
• Lead small breakout rooms during weekly 3‑hour synchronous labs to reinforce technical concepts, grade assignments and provide feedback, and assist students via office hours and discussion forums.
• Additionally, undergo professional training in pedagogy and join a national Community of Practice, helping to build a community of belonging while gaining hands‑on experience with industry‑standard AI/ML tools.

• Must be a current student pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Subject‑matter expertise in Machine Learning Foundations, including the ML project lifecycle and data science basics.
• Proficiency with industry‑standard technical tools, specifically Python‑based libraries (Jupyter Notebooks, Num Py, Pandas, scikit‑learn, and Matplotlib).
• Experience with instructional technology, including proficiency with Canvas for grading/feedback and Zoom for leading live, virtual breakout sessions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively mentor diverse learners and answer technical questions in online forums.
• Demonstrated commitment to pedagogy and the program’s mission of diversifying the AI and machine learning workforce.
• Responsible and dependable, with the ability to commit to 10–15 hours per week during the 9‑week summer program and participate in mandatory training.
