Position Summary

The Department of Plant Science at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for Part‑Time Lecturer positions. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term begins in mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on an assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses.

Required Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in agriculture, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Crop Science, Agroecology, Forestry, Controlled Environment Agriculture, Entomology, Horticulture, or a related discipline relevant to the curriculum.
  • Relevant professional work experience in agriculture, plant science, horticulture, environmental science, or a closely related field may be considered in lieu of a master’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Agriculture, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Crop Science, Agroecology, Forestry, Controlled Environment Agriculture, Entomology, Horticulture, or a related discipline.
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching.
Salary and Benefits

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. Appointments are for one semester only. The monthly base salary for Lecturer A or B ranks does not exceed $6,221. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance in accordance with the CSU system‑wide package.

The position holder is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
