The Department of Landscape Architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for its Part‑time Lecturer pool for part‑time teaching appointments.
Subject Areas- Landscape design; landscape construction methods; and/or planting design and ecology
- Computer graphic software including AutoCAD, Adobe CS, and modeling/rendering programs Rhino, Lumion and/or similar software; hand‑drafting and sketching methods
- Climate mitigation, resilience, and adaptation including related methods, practice, and technologies
- Ecosystem sciences such as biology, urban ecology, plant science, and horticulture
- Earth system science and hazard‑resilient design; ecological, hydrological and other civil engineering methods and technologies
- Geospatial technologies such as geo‑AI, machine learning and environmental sensing
- Advanced digital design and communication technologies such as AR/VR, digital twins, digital fabrication; and/or interdisciplinary research methods
Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses.
Minimum Qualifications- A terminal degree in landscape architecture or related discipline relevant to the curriculum; and/or
- CA PLA licensure with a minimum of 5 years of professional practice experience in one of the specific areas of the curriculum; and/or
- A minimum of 10 years of professional practice experience and recognized expertise in one of the specific areas of the curriculum.
- A Ph.D. in landscape architecture or related discipline.
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching.
- Research, scholarship, and/or creative activities related to landscape architecture and related fields as described in the position description.
- Expertise in quantitative research, qualitative research, and/or effective integration of both.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Monthly base salaries are prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Salary ranges (by rank) are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211
