Assistant Professor of Chemistry – Cosmetic or Formulation Chemistry

Department: Chemistry & Biochemistry, College of Science, Cal Poly Pomona

The College of Science invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in cosmetic or formulation chemistry (or any related subdiscipline, including organic chemistry). The appointment will begin Fall 2027 and follows the Teacher‑Scholar model, requiring excellence in teaching, research, and service.

• Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate lecture and laboratory courses in organic or analytical chemistry, including course design and assessment.
• Mentor and advise students at all levels, fostering inclusive learning environments.
• Establish an active research program that engages undergraduate and Master’s‑level students.
• Contribute to departmental and institutional service activities, including curriculum development and community outreach.

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field (or expected completion by start of appointment).
• Demonstrated excellence or potential in teaching and course development.
• Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Potential to build a productive research program involving students.

• Teaching experience in chemistry lectures and/or laboratory courses.
• Postdoctoral experience in organic or analytical chemistry.
• Interest in developing upper‑division undergraduate and graduate courses.
• Experience with student‑engagement techniques that support equity and success.

• Research statement outlining proposed research and student involvement (maximum 4 pages).

• Names and contact information for two additional references.
