Overview: The Department of Art at Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer pool in Visual Communication Design for part‑time teaching appointments. Faculty candidates will teach courses in Visual Communication Design foundations, Typography, Branding & Identity Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Web and Interaction Design, Motion Graphics, Packaging Design, Design Thinking, and Fine Arts. The appointment commences on short notice for Fall, Spring or Summer sessions depending on enrollment and funding.

• Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
• Develop course materials, assessments, and provide formative feedback to students.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.

• Master’s degree in Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
• Proficiency with industry‑standard design software such as Adobe Creative Suite.

• MFA in Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, or related discipline.
• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of effective teaching.
• Professional practice experience in design, advertising, or a related creative field.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and education. Initial appointments are for one semester only, prorated to the number of units taught and paid in six monthly payments. Salary ranges (July 2024) are:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
• Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 per month
• Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 per month
• Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 per month
