Job Description
Summary:
* IMPORTANT NOTE:
APPLICANTS MUST be currently enrolled at ULV and have a FEDERAL WORK STUDY award to be eligible for this position. OCCE– The STEM Education Workshop Leader should have a passion for science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics, as well as a passion for deepening their desire to learn more about social justice and child development. This position is a great opportunity to explore the field of STEM education in a fun and creative way.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, organized, able to work independently and love to have fun with kids. The main task for the STEM Education Workshop Leader will be to prepare a weekly lesson plan and teach a weekly workshop for K-8th grade students. The starting pay for this position is $17.00 per hour.
Specific Duties :
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and execute age-appropriate STEM workshops to cultivate a creative and safe learning environment where young people can explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology, science, engineering and mathematics. STEM workshops geared toward youth should be an interactive introduction to any STEM field relevant to 21st century careers in a global arena.
Sample topics: computer basics, physics, engineering design, problem solving, etc. Compile a curriculum of lesson plans that can be utilized by the program in the future. Assist staff with program preparations and/or other duties. Other projects and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to work collaboratively in a highly interactive environment. Good oral and written communication skills. General clerical and organizational skills. Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Takes initiative and a self-starter.
