Job Summary

This is a College of Health Sciences Faculty-level position within Western University of Health Sciences and is offered in conjunction with an administrative appointment. Together, the faculty role of Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy Education ( PCN 999673) and the administrative appointment ( PCN A04177) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE ). The salary range listed in this posting does not represents the total compensation for the combined administrative and faculty responsibilities.

Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

• Knowledge of contemporary physical therapy practice.
• Knowledge of content in the area of assigned instruction.

• Experience of 2 or more years in the area in which courses will be taught.

• Ability to organize and present material in lecture and laboratory.
• Ability to communicate effectively in large and small groups as well as one-on-one.
• Ability to accurately examine the knowledge and clinical skills attained by the students.
• Strong interest in and prior exposure to conducting research beyond graduate thesis/dissertation.

Required Qualifications

• An entry-level doctoral degree from an accredited physical therapy program.

• Three to five years’ experience teaching in content area.

• As required. California State PT license or eligible for State licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference will be given to individuals with knowledge of physical therapy practice and an established research agenda and interest in administration.

• Instruction and supervision of students during labs.
• Reinforce curriculum presented by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groups.
