Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campus

The university is noted for its scenic and historic 1,400-acre campus, which was once the winter ranch of cereal magnate W.K.Kellogg. We acknowledge that Cal Poly Pomona resides on the territorial and homelands of the Tongva and Tataavium people whoare the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar. The university'snearly 30,000 students are taught and mentored by the campus's morethan 1,400 faculty as part of 54 baccalaureate and 29 master'sdegree programs, 11 credential and certificate programs, and adoctorate in educational leadership.

The History Department at Cal Poly Pomona was one of the earliestpioneers across the country in emphasizing global history. Our B.A.and M.A. students take a wide range of courses that help them develop broad content knowledge, and that provide hands-on training in historical research. Our undergraduate majors write a capstonesenior thesis based on original primary and secondary sourceresearch; they also take at least one class in digital research methods that encompasses everything from large text analysis tomapping to web design and podcasting.

The faculty members in the department include experts in the history of the United States(including California), the ancient and modern Mediterranean and Middle East, South Asia, East Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Europe. Beyond topical courses, faculty members also teachinnovative thematic classes on the histories of transportation,nonviolence, science, capitalism, and sports and leisure, among other subjects.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions arefilled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding.

Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends inmid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends inmid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions mayalso be available. We welcome…
