Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Associate Dean of Clinical Education, the Assistant Director of Clinical Education provides operational leadership and administrative oversight for the third- and fourth-year clinical education program at WesternU/ COMP , supporting both its day-to-day functioning and long-term effectiveness. Reporting to and in partnership with the Associate Dean of Clinical Education, this role directs departmental administration and personnel, oversees student rotation coordination and clinical site relations, monitors the department’s budget, and helps advance strategic initiatives that strengthen the program.

The position ensures smooth, well-coordinated functioning across all operational areas.

Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge:

• Clinical education operations, rotation logistics, and departmental administration within an allopathic or osteopathic medical school.
• Budget monitoring, expenditure tracking, and resource allocation within an academic or clinical department.
• COCA accreditation standards and osteopathic medical education requirements.

Skills:

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, preceptors, and healthcare partners.
• Ability to plan and execute high-impact events and manage logistics in fast-paced environments.
• Proficiency with software systems relevant to clinical education, data tracking, and workflow management.

Abilities:

• Supervise and develop staff, manage competing operational priorities, and implement process improvements across departments.
• Exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential student and staff matters.
• Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.

Required Qualifications

Education:

• Master’s degree in education, healthcare administration, or a related field required.

Experience:

• At least five years of experience in higher education and/or clinical administration, including a minimum of two years of direct supervisory experience with responsibility for…
