The Department of Architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturerpool in 2026/27 for part-time teaching appointments.

Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campus

California State University system and among 12 such institutions nationwide. Since its founding in 1938, Cal Poly Pomona students participate in an integrative experiential learning education thatis inclusive, relevant, and values diverse perspectives and experiences. With a variety of degree programs in the arts,humanities, sciences, engineering, and professional disciplines,the university is well known for its learn- by-doing approach and Teacher Scholar Model.

The university is noted for its scenic and historic 1,400-acre campus, which was once the winter ranch of cereal magnate W.K.Kellogg. We acknowledge that Cal Poly Pomona resides on theterritorial and homelands of the Tongva and Tataavium people whoare the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar. The university'snearly 30,000 students are taught and mentored by the campus's morethan 1,400 faculty as part of 54 baccalaureate and 29 master'sdegree programs, 11 credential and certificate programs, and adoctorate in educational leadership.

The College of Environmental Design (ENV) connects people, placesand the environments in which we live, work and play. A leader indesign excellence, our programs use the rich creative economy andcultural capital of Southern California - and its geographical advantage as a global gateway for trade and ideas - to educate andtrain future designers to shape the future of the built and natural environments with resiliency, inclusivity and justice.

ENV offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture, landscape architecture, urban and regional planning; undergraduate degrees visual communication design and art history; and a graduate degreein regenerative studies.

The architecture program consists of a five-year curriculum focusedon the design laboratory. The studio sequence consists of foursegments: a three-year basic core, three-semester topic studios anda two-semester long culminating senior project. Lecture classes in Architecture Theory and History, Human Behavior, Professional Practice, Programming, Sustainability, Building Technology,Structures, Codes and Digital Media are closely coordinated withthe studio sequence, and students are expected to demonstrate their knowledge of these areas in their design projects.

Cal Poly Pomona department of architecture is a highly collegialand collaborative atmosphere with extremely focused and motivated students. Most core studios are both team taught and individuallyled and are focused on providing a diverse array of learning environments for our students to thrive in. Our faculty supports student groups and courses that highlight the polytechnicexperience and help feed the diversity of interests of our studentshelping to guide them in finding their place in the profession.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions arefilled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends inmid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends inmid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions mayalso be available. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in the following subject areas:

• Structures/ Building Systems Integration
• Architectural Mechanical Systems
• Foundational Architectural Design Studio
• Professional Architectural Practice

Teach assigned division courses in the department's curriculum andserve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.

Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses.
