Insight Global is seeking a Transmission Engineer to join a growing renewable energy-focused team supporting transmission projects in the Pomona, CA area. This role plays a critical part in enabling renewable energy resources to connect to utility infrastructure, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.
The ideal candidate will bring advanced transmission line design expertise and the ability to lead projects from concept through execution. This individual will serve as a technical leader, overseeing junior engineers and approving design packages with minimal supervision. Initially, the role will support a mix of renewable and traditional transmission projects as renewable work continues to scale.
This position is hybrid (two days per week onsite), offers relocation assistance, competitive compensation, and requires occasional travel for field walkthroughs and site visits.
- Lead and review transmission line design work while mentoring and guiding junior engineers
- Perform advanced engineering calculations and develop design deliverables aligned with industry codes and standards
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure design intent is accurately reflected in drawings and documentation
- Review and approve engineering packages, ensuring quality control and resolving construction‑related issues
- Support renewable transmission projects by determining appropriate structures, voltages, and materials to integrate renewable generation into utility systems
Required Skills & Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical
- 8+ years of transmission line design experience
- 6+ years supporting renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
