Mechanical Engineer - R&D

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer I will primarily support R&D efforts by assisting with product testing, validation, and implementation of design changes to enhance performance, reliability, and manufacturability. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this role contributes to both sustaining and new product development projects, provides technical support for existing products, and ensures accurate documentation of testing and design updates. The position emphasizes collaboration with cross‑functional teams, participation in continuous improvement initiatives, and adherence to quality and safety standards, while contributing to the successful execution of engineering projects and business objectives.

• Support engineers with sustaining projects by executing product testing and characterization, and supporting change implementation to optimized production functionality and manufacturability.
• Support new product development projects as an extended core team member under the guidance of the core team member, as needed.
• Provide technical support for current product line, addressing issues and implementing solutions to improve performance and reliability under the guidance of other engineers.
• Maintain detailed documentation of design changes, test results, and product specifications.
• Conduct testing and validation of design changes to ensure they meet performance and safety criteria.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement activities, including but not limited to Kaizen, 5S events, Problem Solving Process, and Value Stream.
• Effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet business objectives.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and quality.
• Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field OR
• High school diploma or equivalent plus 2+ years of relevant work experience required.
• 1+ year of Mechanical Engineering experience or equivalent working experience.
• Must reside within a commutable distance to Pomona, CA. This is not a hybrid or remote opportunity and requires someone to be onsite fulltime.

• Familiarity with CAD software and simulation extension tools preferred.
• Familiarity with electro‑mechanical systems design preferred.
• Familiarity with injection molding, rapid prototyping, and CNC programming/machinery preferred.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel required.
• Ability to quickly learn business systems required.
• Good verbal and technical written communication skills in English required.
• Ability to build strong partnerships with other departments.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment required.

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401(k) match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
