Senior Engineer V
Senior Engineer V to support engineering design, project development, structural analysis, and transmission/distribution engineering initiatives. This position plays a pivotal role in engineering analysis, QA/QC, design compliance, field support, emergency response, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate is a technical expert in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and transmission line structural engineering with deep experience in California utilities and code compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural and line design analysis using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Caisson.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for modeling and analysis across transmission and distribution systems.
- Review and design pole foundations for new and existing installations.
- Maintain and update engineering design specifications, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
- Support development of new engineering projects based on data collection, research, and analysis.
- Present new ideas to improve engineering processes and business efficiency.
- Analyze data for strategic decision-making in new and ongoing engineering initiatives.
- Support construction teams by resolving design-related issues.
- Conduct field inspections as needed.
- Assist with emergency restoration efforts related to wildfires, storms, or other system incidents.
- Oversee QA/QC engineering processes to ensure quality, safety, and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with California GO95, NESC, and ASCE codes and engineering standards.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to SCE's transmission engineering practice.
- Mentor less experienced engineers in design methods, tools, and best practices.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- California Civil PE License (required).
- 7+ years of technical experience in transmission and/or distribution line engineering.
- Strong experience with California utility engineering standards including GO95, NESC, and ASCE.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and AutoCAD.
- Experience with PLS-Caisson and SPIDAcalc.
- Experience supporting utility emergency response (storms, wildfire restoration).
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional utility teams.
