Kickstart your career with real-world experience in government engineering! The City of Pomona’s Public Works Department is seeking an enthusiastic Intern to support the Administration Division. This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to office assignments, public works operations, and interagency coordination while working directly with the City’s Public Works Admin team on maintenance, operations, and capital improvement projects.
The position will work approximately 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule during City business hours, Monday through Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This is an at-will, hourly, part-time position averaging fewer than 1,000 hours per fiscal year.

They have a foundational understanding of office principles and are familiar with Windows-based systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ArcGIS.

Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
- Current enrollment as a college/university junior, senior, or graduate student in the field of Public Administration, Political Science, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
- One (1) year of work experience in an office environment is desirable.
License:Possession of a valid Class C driver's license is required at the time of application.
Knowledge of: Windows based operating system, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, ArcGIS (desirable).
Ability to: Provide assistance with: staff report preparation, scope of work preparation, tracking procedures, grant reporting, and budgeting.
This position may assist with researching and evaluating grants; making recommendations to City Council; preparing spreadsheets, graphs and drawings; regulatory compliance and report preparation; and preparing scope of work documentation and cost estimates.
