SHIFTS VARY
Position SummaryThis position may "Float" between the Medical Assistant 1 and Receptionist job responsibilities. Under general supervision of a Licensed Vocational Nurse, provides back office support for physicians and clerical staff. Chart patient's chief complaint, may assist w/obstetrical history, and take vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse respiration, height and weight). Follow physician orders and give the patient their discharge instructions. Complete order in EMR and submit to Superbill including any other charges.
Follow route slips for physicals and complete the necessary portions of forms. Complete patient registration process and update as required. Greets patients, check-in and check-out process. Handling busy phones, maintaining proper documentation of all paperwork, verify insurance eligibility using eligibility list, automated systems, Medi-Cal POS and insurance representatives, medical record functions, including scanning correspondence, forms, prescription refills as well as taking messages.
May perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BLS certification.
- One to three years’ experience in medical field, physician's office/direct patient care.
- Ability to perform spirometry, EKG, use centrifuge, microscope, pulse oximeter, computer skills.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
- Ability to effectively communicate and excellent customer service skills.
Salary Range: $24.21 - 34.07 Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Salary range includes evening shift differential.
