Tri-City Mental Health Authorityis currently hiring to fill three (3) full-time
vacancies for the position of
Peer Support Specialist I/II(PSS)within the
Mobile Crisis Care Program(MCCP). This position requires individuals to work on-site 5 days a week from 9:00am to 5:30pm, until training is successfully completed.
Once fully trained, your schedule may adjust based on team needs and role requirements.
Tri-City is looking for individuals to serve as a Peer Support Specialist I/II on a full-time basis for the MCCP. The MCCP Peer Support Specialist will be part of a team that provides crisis intervention and stabilization, linkage and referral, consultation, and education within the scope of practice. The MCCP Peer Support Specialist will report to the Mobile Crisis Care Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Program Manager.
This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
- Respond to client's (Full-Service Partnership and Adult and Children’s Outpatient Programs & other specialty mental health services) crisis calls with or without law enforcement;
- Perform field-based & telephone emergency mental health evaluations & crisis stabilization in accordance with agency procedure;
- Provide crisis intervention & stabilization services to individuals, groups, and families;
- Identify treatment needs & make appropriate referrals for necessary services;
- Perform triage & linkages to non-client community members in the Tri-City catchment areas.
Provides peer-to-peer support services in the office and/or in the field including, but not limited to outreach, support, encouragement, guidance, advocacy, & referrals to external resources & services for clients & their families; builds rapport with clients & their families through sharing stories of lived experience and recovery. - Peer Support Specialist I/II:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Experience:
- Peer Support Specialist I:
Direct lived experience either personally or as a caregiver of someone who has recovered from behavioral health illness and/or substance use disorder. - Peer Support Specialist II:
Two (2) years of experience providing peer support services to clients in a behavioral health care setting.
Candidates bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Some positions may require possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of a valid Peer Support Specialist Certification, to be maintained throughout employment.
Sign-on Bonuses: $2500 for eligible positions.
Merit Salary Increases: Annually based on performance, budget availability and supervisor approval.
CalPERS Pension: 2% @ 55 for Classic Members and 2% @ 62 for PEPRA Members; employee contributes 7% for Classic and 7.75% for PEPRA. No Social Security.
Vacation: 80 hours per year, increasing with years of service with a maximum of 240 hours; cash out option available.
Sick Leave: Full-Time employees = 88 hours per year with no cap.
