Description
The HR Manager oversees all aspects of human resources practices and processes. This role supports business goals by developing and implementing people strategies, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and fostering a positive, high-performance workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Manage the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, development, performance management, and offboarding
- Serve as a trusted resource for employee relations issues; coach managers on conflict resolution and performance improvement
- Oversee compensation, benefits, and payroll coordination
- Ensure compliance with labour laws, company policies, and HR best practices
- Lead performance review processes and support career development initiatives
- Design and deliver training programs related to animal handling safety, compassion fatigue, workplace safety, and leadership development
- Maintain HR metrics, reports, and employee records
- Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee engagement initiatives
- Manage HR budgets and vendor relationships (benefits providers, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Proven experience as an HR Manager or similar HR leadership role
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office or equivalent tools
- Experience with Paycom HRIS Software Application
- Master’s degree or HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR)
- Strong data‑driven decision‑making skills

- Work is performed in a setting within an animal shelter facility. Regular exposure to animal shelter conditions including odors, airborne particles, and animal fur/dander.
- Must be able to:
- Work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, sitting, arm, and hand motion.
- Regular movement about the campus to coordinate work.
