Position Summary

The Assembler II performs intermediate-level assembly of products, components, and subassemblies in accordance with work instructions, engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules. This position uses hand and power tools, conducts inspections and functional tests, identifies assembly issues, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The Assembler II works with limited supervision and may assist in training less-experienced team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assemble products, components, and subassemblies using approved work instructions, blueprints, diagrams, bills of materials, and specifications.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, fixtures, measuring devices, and other production equipment safely and effectively.
  • Inspect materials and completed assemblies for proper fit, function, dimensions, and workmanship.
  • Perform basic functional tests and record production, inspection, and test results accurately.
  • Identify and report defective materials, equipment problems, process deviations, and quality concerns.
  • Troubleshoot routine assembly issues and make approved adjustments or repairs.
  • Follow safety requirements, quality procedures, standard operating procedures, and company policies.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area using 5S or similar workplace standards.
  • Meet established production, quality, and delivery goals while minimizing waste and rework.
  • Assist with inventory counts, material handling, line changeovers, and equipment setup as assigned.
  • Support training and guidance for Assembler I employees when requested.
  • Participate in team meetings, process improvement activities, and corrective actions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least one year of manufacturing, production, mechanical assembly, or related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and basic blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of common hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Basic math, computer, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of assembly experience in a regulated or high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, ERP systems, torque tools, or precision measuring equipment.
  • Relevant technical training or industry certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance or approved lifting equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to assemble and inspect small components.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing or production setting and may involve exposure to moving equipment, noise, dust, chemicals, or varying temperatures. Employees must follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment. Overtime, shift work, and occasional weekend work may be required based on business needs.
